Congress leader Pawan Khera launched a sharp attack on the central government over the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ scheme, alleging that contaminated water is reaching households. Calling it ‘Har Ghar Mal’, he cited Indore as an example and questioned accountability for public health risks.
New Delhi: Congress leader Pawan Khera has launched a scathing attack on the central government over the 'Har Ghar Jal Yojana'. He said that the scheme has become "not a 'Har Ghar Jal Yojana' but a 'Har Ghar Mal Yojana' (every household sewage scheme)." Khera alleged that despite spending thousands of crores of rupees, people in many cities are still finding filth and sewage in their drinking water.
Citing the example of Indore, he said that the situation there has been exposed, but many questions remain unanswered. Pawan Khera said that the government makes big slogans, but the ground reality is completely different. They give flowery speeches to mislead the public, while there is no accountability for the real problems.
The Congress leader held the Prime Minister directly responsible for this matter, asking, "If the government claims to provide water to every household, who will take responsibility for the contaminated water?" He also questioned who will audit the funds received from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for this scheme and where the money was spent."
Pawan Khera said that if children are dying due to contaminated water, then someone from the Chief Minister, Prime Minister, Mayor, or the relevant minister should take responsibility. He demanded an impartial investigation into the entire matter and strict action against the culprits.
