In Parliament, MP Dharmendra Yadav strongly raised the concerns of over 25 lakh teachers across India and more than 2 lakh teachers in Uttar Pradesh affected by the recent Supreme Court ruling on TET qualifications.
New Delhi: Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav strongly raised a serious issue concerning the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) and teachers in Parliament on Thursday. He stated that following the Supreme Court's decision of September 1, approximately 2.5 million teachers nationwide, and over 200,000 in Uttar Pradesh alone, have been plunged into a state of insecurity and uncertainty.
Dharmendra Yadav told the House that after the 2009 Right to Education Act, it was decided that newly appointed teachers would only be able to teach after passing the TET, but older teachers were allowed to continue working based on their previous service conditions. The Supreme Court's recent decision has created a major crisis regarding the future of these teachers.
He accused the central and state governments of jeopardizing the employment of millions of teachers due to weak legal representation. Yadav emphasized that the government should secure the future of these teachers by bringing in an ordinance or a constitutional amendment. He warned that if the government fails to act, millions of families will be affected, and it will be a serious crisis for the education system.
