Patna: Efforts to form a new government in Bihar have intensified. The JDU has called a legislative party meeting tomorrow, where Nitish Kumar will be elected as the legislative party leader. A meeting of the BJP legislative party is also expected tomorrow, Monday.

CM Nitish Kumar will submit his resignation to the Governor on November 17th and may also stake claim to form a new government on the same day.

According to sources in the Chief Minister's House, Nitish Kumar may be sworn in as Chief Minister for the 10th time on November 20th.

The BJP is the largest party in the 2025 assembly elections, but Nitish Kumar's party, the JDU, is expected to rise once again in power. According to reports, 18 ministers, along with Nitish Kumar, may also be sworn in.

Meanwhile, the names of Samrat Chaudhary, Ramkripal Yadav, and Mangal Pandey from the BJP are being discussed in the race for Deputy CM. Chirag Paswan's party, the LJP(R), will also enter the Bihar government.

JDU and BJP will have equal number of ministers, and the RLM will also be part of the government.

Sources indicate that this time the cabinet may consist of 30-32 ministers. This could include an equal number of ministers from the JDU and BJP. Chirag Paswan's party could receive three ministerial positions, while Jitan Ram Manjhi and Upendra Kushwaha's parties could receive one each.

Based on the current assembly strength, a total of 36 ministers could be appointed in Bihar. It is being said that 11 ministers could be appointed from the JDU quota.

The LJP(R) may stake a claim for the deputy CM position alongside the BJP.

After the 2020 election results, the BJP began the tradition of appointing two deputy CMs in Bihar. There is talk of appointing two deputy CMs again, but the LJP(R) is also staking a claim for one deputy CM position instead of the two BJPs.

For now, instead of speaking directly on camera, he is speaking in hushed tones. However, if Nitish Kumar becomes CM, the BJP will decide who will be the Deputy CM.

JDU will not make major changes to its ministerial quota.

In the previous government, there were 13 ministers from the JDU quota. It is possible that 10 of these ministers may be reappointed in the new government.

The party is not in the mood for a major cabinet reshuffle. Bhaskar has a list of 10 names of the ministers likely to be appointed from the JDU quota.

BJP may change its Deputy CM.

In the previous government, there were 19 ministers from the BJP quota. There are reports of a major change. Deputy CM Vijay Sinha may be replaced. Samrat Chaudhary may also be replaced, but he is still in the running for the Deputy CM position. There is also talk of one of Mangal Pandey and Rajneesh Kumar becoming the Deputy CM.

Kushwaha's wife may become a minister

Santosh Manjhi from HAM and Upendra Kushwaha's wife Snehlata, along with LJP(R) state president Raju Tiwari, are also likely to become ministers. Sanjay Paswan's name is also being discussed in the list of potential ministers.

Vijay Sinha is also in the race for Speaker, along with the Minister position.

Like last time, the BJP may retain the Speaker position this time too. According to sources, the BJP may appoint Vijay Sinha as Speaker instead of Deputy CM. It is certain that Vijay Sinha will receive a major position.

Nitish Kumar held this position until 2010, but as Nitish Kumar weakened in 2020, the BJP took over.

After 2020-25, Nitish Kumar's defection led to the formation of the NDA government twice. Both times, the BJP became Speaker.

However, this time, the JDU, along with the BJP, has also increased its numbers. The Chairman of the Legislative Council is already from the BJP quota.

After CM Nitish Kumar's consent, BJP leader Awadhesh Narayan Singh has been appointed Chairman.

The BJP may surprise by using MP and Rajasthan in the cabinet.

Like the cabinets of MP and Rajasthan, old and veteran leaders may be removed from the new Bihar cabinet. New faces may replace them.

In the new governments formed in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, the party has not only fielded a completely new team but also taken caste equations into account. Established leaders have been replaced over the years.

In Rajasthan, the BJP has relied entirely on new faces. Seventeen out of 22 ministers were given positions. In Madhya Pradesh, 22 out of 28 ministers were included in the cabinet.

The BJP has dominated the government since 2020.

The NDA has come to power in Bihar for the second time in 15 years, surpassing 200 seats. In the results announced on November 14, the NDA secured 202 seats. Like the 2020 results, the BJP has once again emerged as the largest party in the NDA.

The party won 89 seats, but this time the JDU's victory count increased from 43 to 85. Along with these two, LJP(R) has entered the government as the third largest party with 19 seats. Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAM's seats have also increased from 4 to 5 compared to last time. Upendra Kushwaha, with 4 MLAs, is also a partner in the government this time.

Whenever the NDA government was formed in 2005 and 2010, JDU had a dominant position in the cabinet. However, as the BJP's numbers increased in 2020, its dominance in the cabinet also increased. In 2010, when the NDA won 206 seats, the number of ministers was 30.

Of these, JDU had 19 ministers and BJP had 11. Similarly, in 2020, when BJP formed the government with 74 seats and JDU with 43 seats, the cabinet consisted of 31 ministers, but only 19 ministers from BJP and 12 from JDU were given place. In addition, one independent and one HAM received one ministerial post each.

  • How has the NDA government's ministry been formed?
  • The BJP and JDU have jointly won a majority four times, including 2025.
  • In 2010, JDU was the larger party and BJP the smaller; JDU had 19 ministers and BJP 11.
  • In 2020, BJP was the larger party and JDU the smaller; BJP had 16 ministers and JDU 12.
  • In 2010, JDU was the Speaker, while in 2020, it was the Speaker.
  • Nitish Kumar may be sworn in between November 18-20

The Nitish Kumar government's final cabinet meeting will be held on November 17. It will recommend dissolution of the Assembly. A claim to form a new government will then be presented. The new government may be sworn in between November 18 and 20.

Meanwhile, JDU National Executive President Sanjay Kumar Jha and Union Minister Lallan Singh arrived in Delhi on Saturday night. They spoke with Home Minister Amit Shah and several senior BJP leaders. Earlier, both JDU leaders spoke with the Chief Minister in Patna. BJP leaders also met.

Upendra and Chirag Paswan stated that Nitish will be the CM.

The current assembly's term ends on November 22nd. The 18th assembly will be notified on Sunday. Chirag Paswan and Upendra Kushwaha's parties will also have a stake in the new government. Chirag Paswan's 19 candidates, Upendra's 4, won. Currently, the government has ministers from the BJP, JDU, and HAM. There will be two deputy chief ministers. Currently, both deputy chief ministers are from the BJP. This could change.
