New Delhi: An 18-year-old student at South Asian University (SAU) in South Delhi has accused four men of attempting to gang-rape her on campus. Following the incident, she alleges that hostel officials instructed her to bathe and change clothes, discouraging her from contacting the police.
She further alleged that they physically prevented her from video calling her mother to show her injuries. “I wanted to video call my mother and show her the bruises but the hostel-in-charge and a guard were covering me,” the FIR quotes her as saying.
The university has condemned the act, and Delhi Police have filed an FIR and initiated an investigation.

On the evening of October 12, 2025, the first-year BTech student was reportedly lured to a secluded area near the campus auditorium by a security guard.
There, four men allegedly tore her clothes, touched her inappropriately, and attempted to drag her into an empty room. The victim managed to escape when the assailants fled upon hearing the sound of a food cart approaching.
The police investigation is ongoing.
According to the victim's complaint, she had been receiving threatening emails and messages for several days before the assault.
The messages included a morphed nude photograph of her and demanded that she meet the sender near the campus Guest House at 11:27 PM on October 12. When she refused, the threats escalated, leading to the alleged assault
After the assault, the victim sought assistance from hostel officials. She claims that the hostel in-charge, identified as Anupama, instructed her to bathe and change clothes, suggesting that things would be "alright." The victim alleges that the administration tried to suppress the case and did not inform the police, despite her requests
Delhi Police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges of kidnapping and gang rape. The police are yet to identify the four men mentioned in the victim's complaint and have formed teams to apprehend them.
