FIR Registered Against Multiple Individuals

According to Maharashtra Cyber, an offence has been registered at the Nodal Cyber Police Station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, along with provisions of the Information Technology Act. Apart from Pranit More, the FIR also names Himanshu Jangra, Dr Sejal Pawar and other individuals allegedly involved in creating, promoting or disseminating the content.

Authorities stated that the content was circulated through platforms including YouTube and Instagram, where clips from a programme hosted by More gained widespread attention.

Viral Clip Triggered Backlash

The controversy erupted after a video surfaced online showing audience member Himanshu Jangra allegedly suggesting that spending money on a date entitled him to physical intimacy. The remarks sparked outrage on social media, with many users accusing those involved of promoting harmful attitudes towards consent and women.

Cyber officials said the comments portrayed women in a derogatory manner and trivialised serious issues relating to dignity and consent.

Another Clip Under Investigation

Investigators are also examining a separate clip allegedly featuring Dr Sejal Pawar making remarks about deceased individuals and medical cadavers. Maharashtra Cyber claimed the statements were offensive and contrary to accepted standards of public decency.
