New Delhi: A loud explosion near Delhi's Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening caused panic. According to initial information, the explosion occurred in a car, after which the fire spread rapidly, engulfing three to four other vehicles parked nearby. Eight people have been confirmed dead so far, while 12 are reported injured. The injured were immediately admitted to Lok Nayak Jaiprakash (LNJP) Hospital. Reason Behind The Incident

The incident is reported to have occurred near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. Five fire tenders have reached the spot. The area is usually crowded, especially in the evening hours. It is not yet clear whether the blast was caused by a CNG leak in the car or due to some other reason. Officials have reached the site, and an investigation is underway from all possible angles.

What Did Fire Department Say?

The Delhi Fire Department shared key details about the incident, stating that they received information about an explosion in a car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. Following the blast, three to four nearby vehicles also caught fire and sustained damage.

Eyewitness Account

An eyewitness described the explosion as so powerful that nearby houses shook, and the windows of surrounding shops shattered. Panic spread among people as the car that exploded and the nearby vehicles quickly turned into fireballs before anyone could comprehend what had happened.
