Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati faces sexual harassment allegations from EWS scholarship students; police are investigating while he remains absconding, with authorities cooperating across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
Swami Chaitanyananda accused of molestation
New Delhi: Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, the director of a renowned ashram in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, has been accused of molesting and sexually assaulting approximately 15 female students. The Vasant Kunj (North) police have registered an FIR and initiated an investigation. Currently, the accused is absconding and is being sought.
The accused's real name is Chaitanyananda Saraswati, also known as Parthasarathi. Police have seized the accused's Volvo car, which has a fake number plate (39 UN 1). Following the disclosure of this case, the ashram administration has removed the accused from his post. Delhi Police are continuously searching for the accused, and his last location was found to be in Agra. He is now being searched for with the help of the Uttar Pradesh Police.
The gravity of the case can be gauged from the fact that the accused has been accused of sexual harassment by female students pursuing PGDM at the Sri Sringeri Math's Sharada Institute of Indian Management under the EWS (Economically Weaker Section) scholarship. These students allege that Swami Chaitanyananda not only approached them inappropriately but also sent them abusive and obscene messages.
The investigation has revealed that, under pressure from the accused, some female faculty and administrators were pressuring the victim students to comply with Swami Chaitanyananda's demands. The involvement of women in such roles has further complicated the case. Police have recorded statements from a total of 32 students, of whom 17 have confirmed the allegations.
Fake number plate car linked to accused Swami seized by police
During an investigation, police found a Volvo car with a fake diplomatic number plate in the basement of the Sri Sarada Institute. The investigation revealed that the car was being used by Swami Chaitanyananda, alias Parthasarathi. Police summoned the accused for questioning several times, but he never cooperated and fled.
These allegations against Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati not only tarnish the reputation of the ashram and the educational institution, but also highlight the importance of safety and ethics in educational institutions. Only consistent police action and the arrest of the accused can move this case forward. Currently, the search for the accused is ongoing, and the case is being thoroughly investigated.
