New Delhi: Grief-stricken and resolute, Inna Makan, the mother of 23-year-old Sahil Dhaneshra, has rejected the apology offered by the father of the 17-year-old accused in the fatal road accident in New Delhi.
Sahil died on February 3 after his motorcycle collided head-on with a Mahindra Scorpio SUV allegedly driven by the teenager in the Dwarka area. The young man was preparing to leave for the United Kingdom for postgraduate studies when the accident cut his life short.

Responding to the teen driver’s father, who publicly expressed regret and described the incident as a “mistake,” Makan said she could not accept his apology. “Sorry for what? For finishing my life? My world can’t come back with his sorry,” she said, questioning whether the same apology would suffice if the tragedy had struck his own family.
Police said the 17-year-old was behind the wheel of the SUV at the time of the crash. Sahil died on the spot. The juvenile was sent to a correctional home and later granted temporary release to appear for his Class 10 board examinations.
A video allegedly recorded by the accused’s sister, who was in the co-driver’s seat, has triggered allegations that the siblings may have been filming content moments before the accident. The teen’s father, however, denied claims that they were making reels, stating that his daughter was only taking pictures and recording a video.
He also said he was unaware that his son was driving the vehicle and emphasised that the teenager did not possess a valid driving licence.

Sahil was the sole support for his mother, a single parent who had built her life around ensuring his future. With her son gone, she has said she plans to shut down her real estate business and focus on seeking justice.
Describing her son as responsible and ambitious, Makan said the loss has left her without purpose. Meanwhile, the accused’s father maintained that his son is a meritorious student with multiple academic awards and is currently in shock following the incident.
