Mathura: A horrific road accident occurred on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh early Saturday morning, killing six people and injuring nine others. The accident occurred near Milestone 88 in the Surir police station area when a speeding, uncontrolled container crushed passengers standing outside a bus. Police arrived at the scene upon receiving information, and the injured were immediately rushed to the hospital.
The incident reportedly occurred around 2:45 a.m. Some passengers of a bus traveling from Delhi to Kanpur had gotten off the expressway to relieve themselves. It is alleged that the bus driver, instead of stopping in the designated "green zone," stopped the bus on the roadside. Meanwhile, a container coming from behind first hit the bus and then ran over the passengers standing on the roadside, causing chaos at the scene.

Six people, including Sonu (Auraiya), Devesh (Basti), Aslam (Kannauj), and Santosh (Delhi), died in the accident, while the identification of two other deceased is ongoing. All bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. The injured are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, and some are reported to be in critical condition.
Traffic on the expressway was briefly disrupted after the accident, but the police soon restored it. Police have registered a case and launched a search for the container driver, and a detailed investigation is underway into the cause of the accident. Preliminary investigations indicate that the bus driver stopped the bus at an unsafe location as a major factor in the accident.
