New Delhi: A woman sustained minor injuries after two men allegedly attempted to snatch her gold chain in CR Park on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred in broad daylight and turned violent when the woman resisted the snatching attempt. According to the police, one of the accused attacked her with a knife before both suspects fled the spot on a motorcycle, leaving the victim injured and raising concerns about safety in the area.
According to the police this incident occurred around 4 pm on Sunday near Bangiya Samaj, close to Market No. 1.
Two unidentified men riding a motorcycle targeted the woman while she was walking on the street. They attempted to snatch her gold chain but when she resisted, the situation turned violent.
Police said one of the accused attacked the woman with a knife when she tried to stop the snatching. She sustained minor injuries during the attack. The woman managed to reach a nearby hospital on her own. After receiving treatment she was discharged and later filed a complaint with the police.
CCTV footage from the area shows the attackers following the woman before the incident. One man was seen walking behind her, while the other waited on the motorcycle. As soon as the woman was targeted, a scuffle broke out. The footage shows that several people was nearby her, but no one stepped in to help. The accused then pulled out a knife, attacked the woman and fled the spot on the motorcycle.
A case has been registered at the local police station. The motorcycle used in the crime has been seized and the Police teams are currently scanning CCTV footage to identify and arrest the accused.
Residents of the area have expressed worry over the incident, especially as it happened in broad daylight. Many believe that attack reflects a growing sense of insecurity. One local resident said it was not just a snatching attempt, but a violent assault, as the attackers took time to injure the woman before escaping.
Police have assured that multiple teams are working on the case and efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the two suspects. The incident has once again highlighted the need for better safety measures and public awareness in busy city areas.
