The screening served as tribute to legacy of freedom fighters
New Delhi: A special screening of the Hindi patriotic film Azad Bharath was organised at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium in the Parliament Library Building on Wednesday.
The event, hosted by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, brought together Members of Parliament from both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha along with officers, staff, and their family members.

The film pays homage to Subhas Chandra Bose, focusing on his leadership and the role of the Indian National Army (INA) in India’s struggle for independence. Through its narrative, the film seeks to revive public memory of the sacrifices made during the freedom movement and underline the continuing relevance of those ideals.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi felicitated INA veterans during the programme, acknowledging their invaluable contribution to the nation’s freedom.
He also honoured the film’s producer and director Roopa Iyer, along with other members of the cast and crew, recognising their efforts in bringing this historical narrative to the screen.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Meenakshi Lekhi, as well as Netaji’s great-granddaughter Rajyashree Chauduri. Senior officials from the Rajya Sabha Secretariat were also present, adding to the significance of the occasion.

Speakers at the event emphasised the importance of such initiatives in promoting awareness about India’s history among younger generations. The screening aimed to inspire a deeper sense of patriotism and responsibility, encouraging citizens to uphold the values of national service and unity.
The programme concluded on a reflective note, celebrating the legacy of the freedom fighters while reinforcing the need to preserve and pass on their ideals to future generations.
