Dhaka: A big news is coming out from Bangladesh on Sunday. The interim government of Bangladesh on Saturday banned former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Awami League under the anti-terrorism law. The Mohammad Yunus government has taken this step calling it an issue related to national security.

According to the Dynamite News correspondent, this decision was taken when the interim government of Bangladesh announced to take several tough steps with the aim of eliminating terrorism in the country. The Yunus government says that the Awami League is working in support of terrorism and its activities can become a threat to national security.

Let us tell you that on August 5, miscreants and extremists overthrew Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh. Hasina took refuge in India to avoid violence. On August 8, an interim government was formed under the leadership of Mohammad Yunus. The Yunus government has demanded Hasina's extradition from India several times.

According to the information, this ban will remain in force till the ongoing hearing in the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) against the Awami League and its leaders is completed, so that the security and sovereignty of the country can be protected.

The government also said that this decision has been taken to ensure the safety of the leaders and activists of the movement in July 2024. Apart from this, this decision has also been taken for the safety of the complainants and witnesses prosecuted in the International Crimes Tribunal.

It is worth noting that the Awami League was founded in 1949. This party agitated for the rights of Bengali speakers in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) for decades.

It later led the Liberation War of 1971. Now action has been taken against this party under the terrorism law, which is considered a big turning point in the politics of Bangladesh. But now it remains to be seen what effect this decision will have on the politics of Bangladesh.

The interim government of Bangladesh further said that this decision has been taken to maintain the security and sovereignty of the country. After an escalating round of protests in Bangladesh in 2024, longtime leader Sheikh Hasina, who had fought back many prior demonstrations, resigned and left Bangladesh.
