China Extends Visa-Free Entry Policy
New Delhi: China has announced the extension of its visa-free entry policy and its expansion to more countries. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated on Monday that the policy will now be valid until December 31, 2026, and will include Sweden. Previously, the policy applied to France and a few other countries.
Under the visa-free entry policy, citizens of eligible countries can enter China for up to 30 days without a visa for business, tourism, family visits, or transit. The aim of this scheme is to attract foreign tourists, revitalize the tourism industry, and boost foreign investment and exchanges.

To date, China has granted visa-free entry to citizens of most European countries, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, several South American countries, and countries in the Gulf region.
Through this move, China is seeking to strengthen its trade relations with the European Union (EU). Recently, Beijing confirmed that a one-year suspension on export controls of rare earth elements, which was initially imposed on the EU, will also apply to other countries. This decision was made after a meeting between China and the US in South Korea.

In addition to this suspension, China and the EU have also decided to continue dialogue and cooperation to promote the stability and smooth operation of industrial and supply chains.
