New Delhi: The situation in the Middle East is once again becoming serious. The fear of an oil crisis has increased worldwide after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. This strait is considered the most important route for global oil supply.
A large part of the world's crude oil passes through Hormuz. In such a situation, if movement is disrupted here, oil prices may increase rapidly. After Trump's statement, an atmosphere of uncertainty and fear has been created in the international market.
Amidst this tension, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is visiting China. He will reach Beijing on the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
In this meeting both countries will discuss the Hormuz crisis, oil supply, and global situation. This visit is an indication that big countries are now becoming active regarding this crisis.
China has long been buying oil from Iran, despite US sanctions. In such a situation, any kind of disruption in Hormuz can directly affect China's energy security. China has said that it is keeping an eye on the issue and will try to maintain peace.
Trump has clearly said that the US Navy will stop those ships that are passing through Hormuz by paying fees to Iran. This step has been taken to put pressure on Iran, but it may worsen the situation.
Iran has reacted sharply to America's announcement. Iran has warned that if its ports are threatened, no one in the entire Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman will be safe. This statement hints at a possible conflict in the region.
China has described the US-Iran talks held in Islamabad as a positive step. He expressed hope that the ceasefire will continue and the dispute will be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. China says that war will worsen the situation, so peace is the only way.
The meeting between Russia and China can play an important role in reducing this crisis. However, at present the situation remains delicate, and the eyes of the world are fixed on Hormuz. If no solution is found, this crisis could have a major impact on the global economy.
