László Krasznahorkai Wins 2025 Nobel Prize for Literature
New Delhi: The 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature has been announced. Hungarian author László Krasznahorkai will be awarded this prestigious prize. The Swedish Academy announced this on Thursday (October 9). Announcing the Nobel Prize in Literature, the Swedish Academy said that his writing demonstrates the power of art even in the midst of terror.

He will be honored with this award on December 10 in Stockholm. It should be noted that László previously received the Man Booker International Prize in 2015 and the National Book Award for Translated Literature in 2019.

Laszlo Krasznahorkai was born on January 5, 1954, into a middle-class family in the Hungarian city of Gyula. His father concealed his Jewish heritage, revealing it to Krasznahorkai when he was eleven years old. He graduated from Erkel Ferenc High School in 1972, where he majored in Latin. In 1973, Krasznahorkai began studying law at József Attila University.
Since completing his studies, Krasznahorkai has worked as a freelance writer. His first novel, "Sátántango" (1985), was a success soon after its publication, establishing him as a major figure in Hungarian literature.
