"Yesterday, the Israeli Air Force... conducted a strike in Tehran and eliminated Asghar Bagheri, Commander of the Quds Force's Special Operations Unit (840) since 2019," a military statement said.
In its statement, the Israeli military further alleged that Bagheri was instrumental in advancing the transfer of weapons from Iran into Israeli territory, posing a significant security threat. Officials described the strike as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle Iran-backed military networks operating across the region.
Iran has not yet officially confirmed Bagheri’s death or responded to Israel’s claims. However, analysts warn that continued targeted assassinations of senior figures could further destabilize the region and increase the risk of a broader military confrontation.
As the situation unfolds, global attention remains fixed on the Middle East, where the ongoing conflict threatens to draw in more regional and international players.
