Pope Francis Passes Away at 88
Vatican City: The Vatican City confirms the death of Pope Francis by issuing a statement. The statement stated that he was the first Latin American of the Roman Catholic Church. He had pneumonia in both lungs, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
At the age of 88, Pope Francis passed away on Easter Monday, April 21 at his residence in the Vatican, Casa Santa Marta. He appeared before the people after a long time on the occasion of Easter yesterday. He was in the hospital for a long time.
Pope Francis had been ill for a long time. Pope Francis was admitted to the hospital on February 14. He had double pneumonia. He was under the supervision of doctors in the hospital.
On March 24, he had returned to his residence after receiving treatment in the hospital for about a month. Upon his return from the hospital, he blessed a large crowd of people gathered outside. The spectators were visibly happy to see the Pope in public and cheered enthusiastically.
"Deeply pained by the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. In this hour of grief and remembrance, my heartfelt condolences to the global Catholic community. Pope Francis will always be remembered as a beacon of compassion, humility, and spiritual courage by millions across the world," said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi who had met the Pope at the G7 summit in Italy last year.
Pope Francis was going to visit India. In December last year, Union Minister George Kurien had said that Pope Francis is likely to visit India after 2025. The Catholic Church has declared 2025 as the Jubilee Year. India has already officially invited Pope Francis. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also invited him directly. The visit was to be scheduled according to the health and convenience of the Pope.
Pope Francis, in his last message, had appealed to help the needy, feed the hungry and encourage initiatives that promote development. In his message released on Easter, he wrote, 'I appeal to all those in positions of political responsibility in our world not to succumb to fear. Fear leads to isolation from others. Use all available resources to help the needy, fight hunger and encourage initiatives that promote development. These are the weapons of peace, weapons that build the future instead of sowing the seeds of death! May the principle of humanity never fail to be the hallmark of our daily actions.'
