Global Reaction and Genocide Accusations

In April, historian Amos Goldberg, the Jonah M. Machover Chair in Holocaust Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, published an article in the online magazine Local Call (Siha Mekomit, in Hebrew) accusing Israel of committing “genocide” in Gaza.

Given the scale of the massacres and destruction perpetrated by the Israeli army in Gaza, the Israeli historian, a specialist of the Holocaust, says in an interview with Le Monde that his country 'criminally overreacted' to the October 7 massacres.

Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan

United States president Donald Trump initiated Gaza peace plan In consultation with many Arab and Muslim countries. The Middle East peace plan was announced by Trump on September 29, 2025, during a press conference at the White House alongside Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

It was signed on October 9, and came into effect on October 10. The United Nations endorsed the peace agreement by the United Nations Security Council on 17 November. US–Israel Differences on Gaza Plan

While United States is determined to move onto second phase of the agreement, which includes Hamas’ disarmament, reconstruction, and post-war governance. There are several gaps between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US administration in Middle East.

Israel is resisting US efforts to resolve a standoff with Hamas militants in the Israeli-occupied parts of southern Gaza. While the Trump administration is ready to begin rehabilitation and reconstruction of the enclave, Israel remains focused on disarming Hamas and the demilitarization of Gaza.

Failure of International Institutions

Gaza war exposes failure of international organisations to restrain violence against the people in the war zone shaking the foundations of UN Charter and international law. UN performed in a disappointing manner during more than two years of genocidal assault on Gaza.

Palestinians and Hamas have accused Israel of war crimes, violation of human dignity, use of war machinery against civilians and destruction of infrastructure to punish people of Gaza. It clearly indicates weakening of UN capability to address international law, human rights and sovereignty of the nations.

Humanitarian Crisis and Aid Blockage

The blockage of international Human Aid to Gaza exposes Israel’s flagrant violations of international law and human rights. The suffering of the people in the war zone without basic amenities is disturbing and highlights Israeli disregard for international law, and basic morality.

The 350 Palestinian deaths since the ceasefire was agreed upon on October 10, 2025 exposes perceptions of legitimacy by the administration. The exclusion of Palestinian representation in the US peace plan for shaping Gaza’s political future is an indication of regional bias. It exposes myopic global operations under the influence of superpowers and deepens the crisis of confidence in UN governance.

Way Forward: Rebuilding and Peace Efforts

To address the sufferings in Gaza human aid, confidence building measures are required to reduce animosity and implement social welfare measures. Strong foundation for negotiations, real commitment by the leadership of Israel-Palestine and implementation of support the measures can only help in restoring peace in the region.
