New Delhi: The US Navy has launched a large-scale search operation in the Arabian Sea after an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter was forced to make an emergency water landing during a routine mission. The incident occurred on Wednesday while the aircraft was operating from the USS George HW Bush aircraft carrier.

According to US Naval Forces Central Command, the helicopter entered the water at around 3:30 am Eastern Time. Rescue teams responded immediately after the emergency was reported.

Three Crew Members Rescued Safely

Military personnel successfully recovered three of the helicopter's four crew members shortly after the aircraft went down. The rescued sailors were taken aboard the USS George HW Bush, where officials confirmed they were in stable condition.

Search and rescue teams, supported by US naval assets in the region, continue efforts to locate the remaining missing crew member.

No Evidence Of Enemy Involvement

The US Navy has stated there is currently no indication that hostile action caused the incident. Officials said there is no evidence suggesting the helicopter was brought down by enemy fire, although the exact reason behind the emergency landing remains under investigation.

Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed inquiry to determine what led to the aircraft entering the sea.

Incident Comes Amid Elevated Regional Security

The accident occurred as American military forces remain deployed across the Middle East following recent tensions involving Iran. While a ceasefire has reduced large-scale hostilities, US forces continue operating under heightened security conditions to protect strategic interests and commercial shipping routes.

The USS George HW Bush has remained in the region since late April as part of Washington's expanded naval deployment.

Helicopter Water Landings Carry Significant Risks

Emergency water landings are considered among the most dangerous situations for helicopter crews. Due to their design, helicopters can overturn rapidly after hitting the water, making evacuation difficult even for highly trained personnel.

The latest incident also follows a series of aviation losses involving US military aircraft during recent regional operations, highlighting the operational risks faced by deployed forces.
