Intermittent heavy rain fell in Mumbai on Sunday, particularly in the western suburbs, with more than 50 mm of rain recorded in five hours. South Mumbai was the worst affected. Colaba recorded 93.2 mm of rain between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, and Santacruz 54.7 mm of rain. A severe low pressure in the Bay of Bengal caused heavy rain in the Konkan region.

The Mumbai Municipal Corporation stated that stormwater drains, pump operators, and emergency teams are active due to the continuous rainfall. KS Hosalikar, former meteorologist at IMD Pune, stated that as of 6:15 am on September 29, most areas in Maharashtra are cloudy. Mumbai has received light to moderate rain in the past six hours, and this is likely to continue. Some places in Vidarbha will remain cloudy, while it is important to monitor the weather around Gujarat and the Arabian Sea.
