US-Iran War Update: 13 Indian Seafarers Stranded at Ukraine’s Chornomorsk Port Amid Intensifying Black Sea Attack

New Delhi: There are thirteen Indian nationals among the 15-member crew of the cargo ship MV AMIR1 that is stranded off Ukraine's Chornomorsk port due to attacks by drones and missiles in the region.

Forward Seaman's Union of India (FSUI) stated that the safety and security of the seafarers are under extreme danger as there have been continuous strikes in the region around the Black Sea port.

Call For Immediate Evacuation By Union

In its latest statement, the Forward Seamen's Union of India has called upon the Indian government, the shipowners, and the flag state of the vessel to urgently take action to secure the safety of the seafarers and evacuate them from the conflict zone.

The union has also issued a video clip, which it claimed was taken by the seafarers off the vessel, showing huge plumes of smoke being seen around the port area.

No Official Reaction from Government

Till now, no reaction has come forth from either the Ministry of External Affairs of India or from the shipping company concerning the stranded sailors.

This news comes just after the formal protest by India against the death of one of its seafarers due to an attack on a civilian ship in the Black Sea. New Delhi had called upon the ambassador of Ukraine and had shown serious concern about the security of commercial ships in that area because of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
