New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a week-long Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme on Investigation Abroad at the CBI Academy in Ghaziabad.

The training course was held from 26 November to 2 December 2025, bringing together officers from multiple countries to strengthen international cooperation in crime investigation. The programme was formally inaugurated on 26 November by Shri N. Venugopal, Additional Director, CBI.

Participants from 14 Countries 

A total of 23 officers representing 14 ITEC member nations attended the training module. The countries included Nepal, Malaysia, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Fiji, Bhutan, Maldives, Thailand, Mongolia, Tanzania, Kenya, Liberia, Ghana and Vietnam. The diverse participation reflected the growing importance of cross-border collaboration in tackling modern-day security and criminal challenges.

During the inaugural session, Shri N. Venugopal interacted with the overseas delegates. He highlighted how evolving transnational crimes demand strong investigative links between nations and emphasised the need for shared learning and exchange of expertise.

Venugopal also underlined that investigative agencies today must remain equipped to address crimes that transcend geographic and jurisdictional boundaries.

Focus on Transnational Crime and Global Cooperation

The one-week training was designed to enhance professional competence, awareness and hands-on skills required for international investigations. The curriculum aimed to help participants understand legal frameworks, procedural mechanisms and cooperative channels necessary for evidence collection and coordination beyond borders.

CBI Academy conducts several such ITEC programmes annually for officers from partner countries. These initiatives are sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, under its international cooperation outreach. Over the years, these courses have evolved into a platform for knowledge exchange, institutional bonding and capacity building among agencies worldwide.

Strengthening Global Investigative Systems

By hosting this specialised course, CBI has reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening global investigative frameworks. The programme is expected to help participating officers apply advanced techniques in their home jurisdictions while fostering long-term international collaboration.

The 2025 session concluded with an emphasis on sustained engagement and cooperative action to tackle emerging and complex forms of crime worldwide.
