In this two-page letter, the parties of the India Alliance have written that "We, the leaders of India, reiterate our collective and urgent request to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss the developments after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025. The MPs of our parties have individually expressed their support for our demand by signing our lette"r. The letter further states that “the country has serious questions about the terrorist attacks, the killing of civilians in Poonch, Uri, and Rajouri, the ceasefire declarations, and the implications for our national security and foreign policy. We have supported the government's efforts to engage with the international community on India's situation.”
The opposition parties have alleged that the government has informed foreign countries and the media, but not the Parliament—the people of India and their elected representatives were kept in the dark.
The parties of the India Alliance have urged the government to call a special session of Parliament immediately after the all-party delegation returns home.
In this letter, apart from the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, leaders of Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP), Trinamool Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), DMK, CPI, RSP, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), etc. have agreed by signing this letter.
