Agni Prime Missile Launched
New Delhi: India has achieved a new milestone by successfully launching the Agni-Prime missile from a rail-based mobile launcher system. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh announced this historic test on Thursday morning. The missile is capable of hitting targets at a range of up to 2,000 kilometers and can be launched from trains, marking a significant advance in the defense sector.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh stated in his post that the Agni-Prime missile was fired from a specially designed rail-based mobile launcher. This is the first time a missile has been launched from a mobile system capable of moving on a rail network without any preconditions. This test puts India among a select few countries possessing such advanced technology.

The Agni-Prime missile incorporates several advanced technologies, including a new propulsion system, a composite rocket motor casing, and an advanced navigation and guidance system. It is based on a canister-launch system, which simplifies the missile's operation and deployment. This system reduces missile launch time and allows it to be easily transported by rail or road.

This missile was the first pre-induction night launch conducted by the tri-service Strategic Forces Command (SFC). Agni-Prime will gradually replace the Agni-I missile, which has a range of 700 kilometers. Its range is 2,000 kilometers, making it a potent strategic weapon against Pakistan. The Agni-V missile covers the entire China border.
For the past two decades, India has been a leader in the development of ballistic missiles. The Agni series of missiles has a range ranging from 700 kilometers to 5,000 kilometers. The successful test of Agni-V in December is also part of this series, which can hit targets up to 5,000 kilometers.
