Promotion of Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir
New Delhi: Pakistan's Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir has now been made a field marshal, reports Dynamite News correspondent. The surprising thing is that he has been promoted despite its crushing defeat in 'Operation Sindoor.' This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting led by Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Now Asim Munir has become the second field marshal of Pakistan. Earlier, General Ayub Khan had declared himself in this post, while Asim Munir has gotten this post after the approval of the government.
Asim Munir's controversial statement: "Hindus and Muslims cannot live together."
Before the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Asim Munir had given a statement advocating the two-nation theory that Hindus and Muslims cannot live together. He had said that our ancestors had taken the right decision to create a separate nation because our religion, thinking, and culture are completely different from Hindus.
He further said that every generation of Pakistan has sacrificed in the defense of the country, and the coming generations should also understand the reality of Pakistan. His intention was to promote nationalism in the country, but there was a lot of anger in India over his statement on Kashmir.
India's reply—Operation Sindoor
Just a few days after this statement, on 22 April 2025, there was a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In response, India launched 'Operation Sindoor' and attacked many terrorist bases in Pakistan. The Indian Army also gave a befitting reply to the Pakistan Army and destroyed their army camps and airbases.
Despite this, the Pakistani government and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif are patting their backs on this failure.
Asim Munir failed but still got a promotion!
Asim Munir's tenure so far as the Army Chief has been very weak and unsuccessful. The Indian Army showed with evidence that the weapons of Pakistan and its allies Turkey and China could not stand in front of made-in-India weapons. Despite this, Asim Munir has been promoted to field marshal.
The Air Chief's tenure also extended
Not only Asim Munir, but the tenure of Pakistan's Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu has also been extended. Asim Munir is the 11th Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, from 2022. Earlier his tenure was of three years, which was extended to five years in November 2024.
Before becoming the Army Chief, Asim Munir had also been the head of ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence).
