Did the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, which killed 9 people and injured several others, stem from a radicalised white collar terror module connected to Faridabad and south Kashmir? Authorities are investigating to uncover all details.
9 people were killed and multiple vehicles damaged in the Red Fort blast.
New Delhi: In a shocking development, sources have revealed that the vehicle involved in Monday’s deadly explosion near Delhi’s iconic Red Fort was linked to a radicalised “white collar” terror module operating out of Faridabad and south Kashmir. The blast, which claimed nine lives and injured several others, occurred when a car owned by Dr Umar Mohammad, a Pulwama-based doctor allegedly associated with the module, detonated near a traffic light.
Officials believe Dr Umar triggered the explosion after authorities arrested key module members, including Dr Mujammil Shakeel and Dr Adil Rather, and seized large quantities of explosives over the past few days.
Explosive Evidence and UAPA Charges
The Delhi Police have now invoked Sections 16 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act covering acts of terrorism, alongside Sections 3 and 4 of the Explosive Substances Act. Additional charges of murder and attempt to murder have been filed. Early investigations suggest that a large quantity of ammonium nitrate, a common fertiliser that can be converted into explosives, was used in the attack.
The blast occurred hours after police recovered nearly 2,900 kilograms of suspected explosives, arms, and ammunition from two properties rented by Shakeel in Faridabad. These materials included 350 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, timers, assault rifles, and handguns.

Multi-Agency Investigation Underway
Authorities have launched an extensive probe involving Delhi Police, J&K Police, NIA, NSG, Intelligence Bureau, UP ATS, Haryana Police, Gujarat Police, and forensic teams. Early interrogation suggests the vehicle changed hands multiple times before being used in the attack. The J&K Police have detained a suspect in Pulwama named Tariq, who may provide further insights into the ownership trail.
Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that all possibilities, including cross-border links and terror connections, are being examined as Delhi remains on high alert.

White Collar Terror Module Raises Alarms
The terror module involved professionals from Kashmir and other locations, reportedly operating under handlers based abroad. These individuals are accused of past terrorist activities including distribution of propaganda material supporting extremist organisations. The joint operations in J&K and Faridabad over the last two weeks recovered explosives, arms, and ammunition from multiple locations.
Investigators believe the Red Fort car may have been intended for central Delhi targets before the explosion occurred. Authorities continue to interrogate suspects and analyse forensic evidence to fully map the network’s activities and identify potential accomplices.
