New Delhi: The blast near Delhi's Red Fort Metro Station killed 12 people and injured many more. Initial investigations revealed that the explosive was not fully developed, resulting in limited impact. The explosion did not create a crater, and no shrapnel was recovered.

The forensic team is working to identify the explosive used at the scene. Initial assessments revealed that the IED (Improvised Explosive Device) was improperly constructed and detonated prematurely. This resulted in the explosion failing to have the expected destructive impact.

Police investigations have led to Dr. Umar Nabi of the Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir. Umar was driving the i20 car in which the explosion occurred. Initially, it was believed that there were three people in the car, but later it became clear that only Umar was in the vehicle.

The investigation revealed that the blast was linked to a terror module arrested in Faridabad, Haryana. Umar, fearing a raid by security agencies, was fleeing when the explosives inadvertently detonated in his car.
The car entered Delhi from Faridabad via the Badarpur border at 8:13 am.
Police have traced the movement of Umar's vehicle for 11 hours. The investigation revealed that he waited in the car for approximately three hours and used the internet to gather information about associates arrested in Faridabad.

Investigating officials believe that Umar was possibly carrying ammonium nitrate in the car. Initial assessments also revealed that the blast may have been intended as a suicide attack but detonated accidentally.
