Himachal: 5 killed, about 15 injured as HRTC bus fell into ditch in Mandi

A Himachal Path Parivahan Nigam (HRTC) bus went out of control and fell into a deep ditch in Maseran area of Sarkaghat subdivision.

Mandi: A major bus accident took place in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday morning.

Five people including a teenager died in the accident, while more than 15 passengers were injured.

A Himachal Path Parivahan Nigam (HRTC) bus went out of control and fell into a deep ditch in Maseran area of Sarkaghat subdivision.

The condition of many of the injured is said to be critical. The deceased are said to be three women, a teenager and a man.

Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has expressed grief over the death of people by tweeting on this accident and has also issued orders to the district administration to immediately take the injured to the hospital and provide them treatment.

He wrote, "In this hour of grief, I express my condolences to the bereaved families, praying for the peace of the souls of the departed. Also, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured."

According to information received from the police, at least 5 people have died in the accident. Apart from this, 20 people are injured, who have been admitted to Sarkaghat Hospital. Importantly, the condition of the driver is also said to be very serious. At present, the reason behind the accident is not known.
