Mandi: Himachal Pradesh is facing severe floods due to heavy rains. So far, 4 people have died and 16 are reported missing, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
Cloudburst has caused a lot of destruction in the state. Two people are missing in Bara of Mensraj area and three in Talwara. Four girls have been rescued in Bara and one in Talwara. 11 people have been rescued from various places in Mandi city. Two houses and five cowsheds have been damaged in Triambala of Dharampur. 26 cattle have died.

NDRF and SDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue work. A house built in Syanj drain of Gohar subdivision of Mandi was washed away in the sudden flood. Here mother and daughter were saved, but seven people were swept away in the flood.

According to the information, the continuous torrential rain since last night has worsened the situation in Mandi district. All the rivers and streams of the district are in spate, which has increased the concern of the people. The 16 MW Patikari Power Project built in 2008 on Bakhli Khad has been destroyed. At present, there is no report of any casualty in the power house. The administration team is ready for rescue on the spot, but the team is also helpless in front of the strong current.
There is news of 16 MW Patikari power project being washed away near Kuklah in Saraj area. A bridge and some vehicles were also washed away here. At the same time, 1.57 lakh cusecs of water is being released from Pandoh Dam. Pandoh market has started getting submerged due to opening of all five gates of the dam. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that incidents of dam breaking have been reported at eight places in Mandi. Initial assessment has revealed a loss of Rs 500 crore.
Due to heavy rain alert, educational institutions of district Kangra will remain closed today on July 1, 2025. DC Kangra Hemraj Berwa has issued this order.
