New Delhi: On the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami on August 16, 2025, grand events are being organized in ISKCON temples across the country and abroad. ISKCON, also known as the "Hare Krishna Movement," is a global spiritual organization founded in 1966 by Swami Prabhupada to spread the teachings of Lord Krishna. Today there are more than 650 ISKCON temples around the world, where special pujas, bhajans, and cultural programs are organized on Janmashtami.

Sources of income of ISKCON temples

To operate temples on such a large scale, financial resources are required. The main sources of income of ISKCON are

Donations: Donations given by devotees are the main source of income of ISKCON.

Book Sales: Income is also generated from the sale of the Bhagavad Gita and other spiritual texts written by Swami Prabhupada.

Restaurant Business: ISKCON's Govinda Restaurant earns income by selling vegetarian food.

Donation and Souvenirs: Religious material is also sold from shops in the temple premises.
