Sriharikota: The PSLV-C62 mission has encountered a critical performance anomaly during the final moments of its third-stage (PS3) burn.

After a perfect liftoff, telemetry screens suddenly showed a terrifying deviation in the flight path, with the vehicle's altitude and velocity dropping far below nominal levels.

The 44.4 metre tall four-stage PSLV-C62 rocket soared from the first launch pad at a prefixed time of 10.18 hours on Monday.

ISRO Chief V Narayanan on Monday said that the PSLV-C62 mission encountered an anomaly during the third stage and added that a detailed analysis has begun to investigate the issue.

"Performance of the vehicle up to the end of 3rd stage was as expected, then we saw more disturbance in vehicle's roll rates, subsequently there was a deviation observed in flight path. We are analysing the data and we shall comeback at the earliest,"

The ISRO said on its X account later that the PSLV-C62 mission encountered an anomaly during end of the PS3 stage. "A detailed analysis has been initiated," it added.
