Srinagar: Heavy rains and natural disasters have created a serious situation in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir. A major landslide has occurred in the Mahore area of Reasi district, in which several houses have been swept away and about seven people are missing.
Similarly, landslides have also caused massive destruction in the Rajgarh area of the Ramban district, where three people have been confirmed dead and two others are missing. The administration and rescue teams are engaged in relief work, but the work is being hampered due to adverse weather conditions.
Panic due to cloudburst
A cloudburst occurred in the Gurez sector of the Bandipora district on Friday night, which suddenly started heavy rains. However, no casualties have been reported in the incident, but panic prevailed among the people. Such incidents cause flash floods and landslides in hilly areas, leading to loss of life and property.

Impact on rail traffic
Heavy rains and floods have had a severe impact on rail traffic. Northern Railways has cancelled 46 trains to and from Jammu, Katra, and Udhampur railway stations. Traffic between Kathua and Udhampur has come to a complete standstill due to the collapse of rail lines.

Union Home Minister's visit
Union Home Minister Amit Shah may arrive on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. He will take stock of the situation of the recent heavy rains and the devastation caused by them. So far more than 110 people have died in this disaster, most of whom are pilgrims, while 32 people are still missing.
This will be Amit Shah's second visit to Jammu in three months, which shows the seriousness on the part of the government. This series of natural disasters in Jammu and Kashmir has become a serious challenge for the state. The devastation caused by landslides, cloudbursts, and heavy rains has disrupted the lives of the local people.
