Kolkata: Since its defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has been grappling with dissent from its own MPs and MLAs. The discontent of Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, the MP from Barasat, has now come to the fore.

Kakoli Ghosh had recently resigned from the post of TMC District President for Barasat. She has now stepped down from all other positions she held within the party organization as well.

Kakoli Ghosh has submitted her resignation from all posts within the TMC organization to the party's State President, Subrata Bakshi. In a letter addressed to Subrata Bakshi, Kakoli Ghosh stated that she is relinquishing all positions within the party organization.

However, Kakoli Ghosh has not resigned from her membership of the TMC; she continues to serve as a Lok Sabha member representing the party.

Kakoli Ghosh has been visibly displeased with the TMC for the past few days. Just days after the TMC's defeat in the West Bengal elections, Mamata Banerjee removed Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar from the post of Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha.

Mamata Banerjee withdrew the responsibility of Chief Whip from Kakoli Ghosh and entrusted it to Kalyan Banerjee instead.

Kakoli Ghosh has been feeling hurt and resentful over this move by Mamata Banerjee. She had also expressed her displeasure regarding this matter on social media. Within just a few hours of her removal as the TMC's Chief Whip, the Central Government accorded 'Y' category security cover to Kakoli Ghosh. This move came at a time when the security cover for various TMC leaders, including Abhishek Banerjee was being scaled down.

Just a day earlier, Kakoli Ghosh, along with six other TMC MLAs, had attended an administrative review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Kakoli Ghosh has been a close associate of Mamata Banerjee since before the very inception of the TMC.
