IMD Warns of Heatwave, Storms and Snowfall Across States
New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert regarding varying weather conditions in several parts of the country. While rain and snowfall are expected in some states, warnings have been issued for increased heat and heatwave conditions in many areas. Thunderstorms are also predicted in parts of South India.
The weather in the National Capital Region (NCR) will remain normal for the time being. Light clouds and sunshine are expected to play a key role in the skies for the next week. This will provide some relief from the intense heat during the day, while the mornings and evenings will feel slightly cooler.
Cloud skies will prevail in Lucknow and surrounding areas of Uttar Pradesh. As the weather system advances, light rain may occur in the eastern districts. Temperatures are expected to remain around normal, with a minimum of 23 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 36 degrees Celsius.
Jaipur and surrounding areas will experience hot and dry weather during the day. However, isolated dust storms or light showers with thunderstorms are possible in the eastern parts. Temperatures are expected to rise further next week.
The weather in Jammu and Kashmir will remain cold. Light rain may occur in the plains of Srinagar and fresh snowfall may occur in high altitude areas such as Zojila and Sinthan Top. Caution is advised for those traveling in hilly areas.
Steady Weather in Chandigarh and surrounding areas of Punjab will remain. The sky will remain partly cloudy, and temperatures will rise gradually. No major changes are expected at this time after the recent thunderstorms and rain.
Temperatures are rising rapidly in many parts of central, western, and southern India. Heat wave-like conditions are expected in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. The IMD has advised people to avoid going out during the day, drink more water, and wear light clothing.
The Meteorological Department has urged people to be vigilant and adjust their daily routines according to the weather. It is especially advised to avoid sun exposure between 12 noon and 4 pm to avoid heat-related problems.
