New Delhi: Bone-chilling cold continues to grip the northern and eastern parts of the country. Cold winds, fog, and plummeting temperatures have severely disrupted life. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no immediate relief in sight. Drizzle and cloud cover will continue to create cold conditions in the plains, while dense to very dense fog will continue to plague many states for the next week.

Western Disturbance Activates in the Mountains

Due to the activation of a Western Disturbance in Himachal Pradesh, rain and snowfall are expected for the next six days, starting Friday. The weather will be particularly severe on January 19th and 20th. There are signs of a prolonged dry spell breaking during this period. Inclement weather is expected in most parts of the state between January 16th and 21st.

Mercury nears freezing point in Punjab and Haryana

Severe cold continues in Punjab and Haryana, with minimum temperatures reaching near freezing in many areas. Hisar, Haryana, recorded a minimum temperature of 0.2 degrees Celsius, the lowest in the state. Weather experts predict a slight fluctuation in temperatures from Friday due to a weak western disturbance, which is expected to bring some relief.

Drizzle and Cloudy Weather

The Meteorological Department predicts partly cloudy skies between January 16 and 18, while drizzle is likely in many areas between January 19 and 22. This could further intensify the cold, especially during the morning and night hours.
