New Delhi/Kolkata: A group of rebel Trinamool Congress (TMC) Members of Parliament (MPs) is likely to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on 15 June clearly extending their support to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), said suspended TMC leader Riju Dutta. He said that the Party's internal rift has deepened.

Addressing reporters in Kolkata, Riju Dutta announced that a key meeting of the dissident faction will be held on Sunday and claimed that the West Bengal Chief Minister is likely to attend the gathering.

Dutta said that the rebel MPs are likely to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday. He added that a major meeting is scheduled for Sunday and, according to his information, the Chief Minister of West Bengal may also attend it.

He further claimed that around 20 rebel TMC MPs have expressed their support for the NDA in the interest of the nation. “It is a win-win situation for the BJP, as they are gaining support without the MPs formally joining the party,” he added.

The development comes amid an intensifying internal conflict within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) after 19 rebel MPs sought separate seating arrangements in the Lok Sabha. The move has fuelled speculation about a possible split within the party and a potential shift in alignment towards the BJP-led NDA.

According to sources, the 19 breakaway MPs submitted their request to the Lok Sabha Speaker’s Office on May 18. The list includes senior leaders such as Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Satabdi Roy, Bapi Haldar, Sharmila Sarkar, Prasun Bandyopadhyay, Jagadish Barma Basunia, Asit Kumar Mal, Arup Chakraborty, Rachna Banerjee, Saayoni Ghosh, Khalilur Rahaman, Abu Taher Khan, Yusuf Pathan, Mitali Bag, Mala Roy, Kalipada Soren, Deepak Adhikari, June Malia, and Partha Bhowmick.

Rebel TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar had earlier confirmed that a group of 20 MPs has formally sought separate seating arrangements in the Lok Sabha, signalling a possible organisational rift within the party’s parliamentary wing.
