New Delhi: Russia wants India and China to work together, and Russia should also join them. A big statement from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has come out in this regard. Lavrov said on Thursday that Moscow is really interested in reviving the format of Russia, India, and China, i.e., RIC.

According to Dynamite News correspondent, he said, "I would like to confirm our genuine interest in resuming work as soon as possible in the format of the Russia-India-China trinity," which was established several years ago on the initiative of former Russian PM Yevgeny Primakov.

Since then, it has held ministerial-level meetings more than 20 times not only at the level of foreign policy heads but also at the level of heads of other economic, trade, and financial agencies of the three countries.

The Russian Foreign Minister was addressing a session of an international social and political conference organized on creating a single and equitable system of security and cooperation in Eurasia. Lavrov stressed, "As of today, as far as I understand, there has been a consensus between India and China about easing the situation on the border. I think the time has come for the revival of this RIC tree."

He also alleged that NATO is openly trying to implicate India in anti-China conspiracies. Lavrov said, "I have no doubt that our Indian friends, and I am saying this on the basis of confidential conversations with them, are clearly seeing this trend, which can really be considered a major provocation."

Tensions between India and China escalated after the clashes in Galwan in 2020. However, the meeting between Indian PM Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, in October 2024 was seen as a softening.

Meanwhile, both the leaders stressed the need to improve bilateral relations. At present, Russia is trying to form a group according to its own wishes with the intention of appeasing Western countries. Meanwhile, amid the Ukraine war, Western countries are busy creating an atmosphere against Russia.
