The situation was the worst on Minto Road, where the road was filled with water up to the knees. Vehicles were seen moving at a very slow speed, due to which traffic was disrupted at many places in the morning. Visuals of waterlogging have emerged near Minto Road, Dwarka flyover, Chanakyapuri, Subroto Park area and Delhi Airport Terminal-1. A car got completely submerged in water near Minto Road. Heavy waterlogging was also seen around the airport. The drainage system was exposed even in posh areas like Chanakyapuri and Dwarka. Roads were also flooded in Delhi's ITO area due to rain.
This bad weather also affected air services. Flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport were affected late at night and early in the morning. Indigo Airlines informed on social media that flights were getting delayed due to bad weather. However, as the weather cleared, flight operations gradually started becoming normal.
According to flight tracking website Flightradar24, many flights at Delhi Airport departed late and some had to be cancelled. On an average, a delay of more than 30 minutes was seen.
The Meteorological Department had already issued a warning regarding this change. Light rain and cold winds are expected in the capital and surrounding areas for the next few days.
