Weather update for Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami; Here’s what IMD predicts

New Delhi: IMD predicts cloudy conditions for Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami in these states.

In many regions of the nation, weather will be change on the joyous occasions of Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami. According to recent reports from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) rain is possible in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and other northern states on 9 August during Raksha Bandhan and 16–17 August during Janmashtami.

Weather On Raksha Bandhan

On Raksha Bandhan day (August 9) Delhi and the surrounding areas may experience light to moderate rain and thunderstorms according to the IMD.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that during this time the minimum temperature will drop by 4 degrees Celsius. It is anticipated that the minimum temperature will be about 25 degrees Celsius and the maximum will be about 34 degrees Celsius.

Weather On Janmashtami

Around Janmashtami (August 16–17) Delhi and other locations in North India could experience a lot of rain. From 10 to 13 August Delhi, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh are under a cloud cover and rain alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The temperature is expected to drop to 24 degrees Celsius and rise to about 32 degrees Celsius. Rainfall activity is expected to increase over northwest India due to the influence of monsoon winds and an active western disturbance according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The remainder of North East India parts of Uttarakhand the northern districts of Bihar, West Bengal parts of Vidarbha Madhya, Maharashtra Konkan and Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala Lakshadweep and portions of Chhattisgarh may experience light to moderate rainfall.

Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also anticipated to see significant rain. For Friday and Saturday Mumbai and other Maharashtra locations should expect light to moderate rain and thunderstorms. Mumbai maximum temperature on 9 August is predicted to be 30 degrees Celsius with a minimum of 28 degrees.

The Met department also predicted that the weather would be humid with an 80–90% humidity level.

Be Careful

When it rains people should be careful especially in places where there may be traffic issues and waterlogging according to the IMD. It has been suggested that travelers during festivals monitor weather reports and take precautions against precipitation.
