New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across several states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and Kerala.
Rain Forecast for Northeast and Southern States
According to the latest bulletin, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Kerala, and Mahe. Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, with the active system expected to continue into 1 March.
Snowfall Likely in Jammu & Kashmir
The IMD has also predicted isolated light rain or snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir on March 3 and 4, bringing fresh precipitation to higher-altitude regions.
Hot and Humid Conditions in Gujarat
While parts of the country brace for rain, western India is set to witness a rise in temperatures. The weather office has warned that hot and humid conditions are likely to develop in isolated pockets of Gujarat on 4 and 5 March.
Delhi Weather Outlook
For Delhi, the forecast indicates mainly clear skies during the day, with mist expected in the early morning hours. Daytime temperatures in the national capital are likely to range between 30°C and 32°C, while minimum temperatures may hover between 13°C and 15°C.
Rising Maximum Temperatures Across India
The IMD has projected a gradual warming trend across much of the country over the coming week:
Northwest India: Maximum temperatures may rise by 2°C to 5°C over the next seven days, likely remaining 3-5°C above normal in several areas.
Central India: Daytime temperatures are expected to increase by 2°C to 4°C over the next six days.
East India: A 2°C to 3°C rise is forecast over the next three days, with no major change thereafter.
Maharashtra: Temperatures may climb by 3°C to 4°C over the next four days.
Gujarat: A gradual rise of 3°C to 5°C is likely over the next five days.
By the end of the week, parts of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra are expected to record maximum temperatures 2°C to 4°C above normal.
Overall, while rainfall activity continues in the Northeast and parts of the south, much of northern and western India is set to experience a steady rise in temperatures in the days ahead.
