The Houses Adjourned For Wednesday (credit: X)
New Delhi: Proceedings in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned for Wednesday following noisy protests by Opposition members demanding an apology over yesterday's violence and lathicharge on the students who were protesting outside Parliament demanding justice over NEET paper leaks. The opposition was in a relentless mood and was demanding immediate discussions on a range of issues.
Both the Houses were earlier adjourned to 12 noon, later to 2 pm, and then for the day. As soon as the two Houses assembled for the day, Opposition members were on their feet raising
slogans and pressing for suspension of the listed business to take up what they described as urgent matters of public importance. In Lok Sabha, several MPs entered the well of the House.
In the Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla urged the members to allow the House to function and stressed that Parliament was an appropriate forum for discussion and debate. In the Rajya Sabha, Chairman Radhakrishnan allowed Opposition leader Mallikharjun Kharge to speak, and when he rose to speak by attacking the government over yesterday's lathicharge and teargas on students, many NDA side MPs protested, and it resulted in adjournment of the House till 12 noon.

The mood of the opposition in both the Houses was aggressive and holding the government accountable for the lathicharge on students yesterday and blamed the government for mishandling of the students' protest. Realising the mood and temper of the opposition, adjourned both the houses twice and finally for the day.
Later, speaking to reporters in the parliament complex, leader of the opposition, Rahul Gandhi, accused the Centre of destroying the future of the country's youth, alleging that repeated irregularities in competitive examinations had left students with no opportunities and no faith in the education system. He demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and the education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
