Bengaluru: In a shocking accident, at least three women were killed and 15 others injured when a cruiser vehicle collided with a canter on a state highway in in Gadag of Dharwad district on Thursday, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Sujatha, Annapurna and Mariyambu, all residents of the Shivajipet area of Gajendragad. All three of them were farmer women.

According to police, the accident took place in the morning near Jigaluru Cross in Rona taluk on State Highway 30, where a cruiser and a canter from SRP Logistics.

SP Gadag: Three Persons Died On The Spot
The Gadag Superintendent of Police, Rohan Jagadish, rushed to the accident site, after receiving the information, and reviewed the situation.

While speaking to media persons, Jagadish said that the accident was reported in the morning. Three persons died on the spot. The injured have been sent to the hospital.

"At around 6 am, an accident was reported. A canter vehicle belonging to SRP Logistics and a cruiser vehicle collided. Three people have died on the spot. The injured have been referred to the district hospital. The accident site is on SH 30, a state highway," saiod the SP.

Gadag Superintendent of Police Rohan Jagadish rushed to the accident site soon after receiving information and carried out an on-the-spot inspection. Police teams were immediately deployed and rescue operations were launched without delay.

Briefing the media, SP Jagadish said the accident occurred at around 6 am when a canter truck belonging to SRP Logistics collided with a cruiser vehicle on State Highway-30. “Three people died on the spot, while the injured were shifted to the district hospital,” he said.

Officials confirmed that over 10 people sustained injuries in the crash. The injured were first taken to Rona Taluka Hospital, and those with serious injuries were later referred to the Gadag Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Hospital for advanced treatment. The condition of several victims remains critical.
