New Delhi: The clash between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans turned into a high-scoring thriller as Gujarat Titans delivered a powerful batting performance, especially in the final overs. The innings saw momentum swings, explosive hitting, and crucial wickets that kept fans on edge till the last ball.
The Titans got off to a flying start, thanks to the aggressive batting of Jos Buttler. He dominated the powerplay with fearless stroke play, smashing boundaries all around the park. His quickfire half-century set the tone early, putting Delhi Capitals’ bowlers under immense pressure.
However, his innings was cut short by Kuldeep Yadav, who provided a much-needed breakthrough.
After Buttler’s dismissal, skipper Shubman Gill took control of the innings. He played a calculated yet aggressive knock, accelerating steadily and maintaining a strong strike rate throughout.
Alongside him, Washington Sundar played a crucial role. The duo stitched together a brilliant 100+ partnership, stabilizing the innings while keeping the scoreboard ticking. Sundar’s maiden IPL fifty was a highlight, showcasing his ability to anchor and attack when needed.
The middle overs saw Gujarat Titans shift gears. Gill targeted the spinners, especially Kuldeep, hitting crucial sixes to keep the momentum alive. Sundar complemented him with smart shot selection and quick running between the wickets.
Despite some tight overs from Lungi Ngidi, who bowled economically and picked up a key wicket, the Titans maintained control.
The final overs were packed with drama. Gill’s departure after a well-made 70 gave Delhi a brief opening, but Titans continued to push hard. Sundar’s dismissal in the last over didn’t slow them down much.
Glenn Phillips stepped up with explosive hitting, including a massive six and a boundary to finish the innings strongly. Despite some tight bowling attempts by Mukesh Kumar, Titans managed to cross the 210-run mark.
With a total exceeding 210, Delhi Capitals now face a challenging chase. Their bowlers had moments of brilliance but failed to consistently contain the Titans’ aggressive batting lineup.
The match now hinges on whether Delhi’s batting unit can rise to the occasion or if Gujarat’s bowlers will capitalize on the scoreboard pressure.
