Harbhajan Singh Steps Up for Punjab Flood Victims, Donates ₹50 Lakh Aid and Rescue Equipment

Harbhajan Singh has taken major steps to support flood-hit communities in Punjab. He donated 11 motorboats and 3 ambulances for rescue operations. He is personally monitoring the relief efforts.

Chandigarh: Former Indian cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh has stepped up to help people affected by the floods in Punjab. Heavy rains and overflowing rivers have caused severe flooding in many districts. Thousands of people to leave their homes and damaging crops. Now, Harbhajan has been actively involved in relief work.

Relief Efforts Underway

Harbhajan Singh used his MPLAD (Member of Parliament Local Area Development) fund to buy eight motorboats and contributed three more from his personal funds, making a total of eleven motorboats to help people, Each boat costs around 4.5 to 5.5 lakh rupees. Additionally, he purchased three ambulances to help transport critically ill patients to hospitals.

Support from Friends and Organizations

Former cricketer efforts didn’t stop with his own resources. Harbhajan also reached out to friends and well-wishers for help. A sports organization donated 30 lakh rupees, and two close friends contributed 12 lakh and 6 lakh rupees respectively. He managed to raise about 50 lakh rupees. He also provide food, medicines, and other essential supplies to families affected by the floods.

Ongoing Commitment

Harbhajan has promised that his support will continue as long as the situation demands. He is closely watching the situation and is ready to offer more help. He emphasized that humanity should come before politics or boundaries when people’s lives are at risk.

From Cricket to Public Service

Harbhajan Singh retired from all forms of cricket in December 2021. Over his remarkable career, he played 103 Test matches, taking 417 wickets, 236 ODIs with 269 wickets, and 28 T20 internationals with 25 wickets.

In April 2022, he entered politics as a Rajya Sabha MP from the Aam Aadmi Party. He has since been actively working for social causes, including the current flood relief efforts.
