New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has seen impressive growth in its finances over the past five years. In 2019, the board had a bank balance of ₹6,059 crore, which rose to ₹20,686 crore by 2025.

This means an increase of ₹14,627 crore during this period, including a rise of ₹4,193 crore just in the last financial year. This was reported by media.

General Fund Grew

The media report also mentioned that the BCCI’s general fund grew significantly despite making payments to state cricket associations. In 2019, the general fund was ₹3,906 crore, which nearly doubled to ₹7,988 crore by 2024.

This financial information was shared with the state associations. The Honorary Secretary shared these details during the board’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Cash and Bank Deposits Increase

The honorary secretary told at the annual general meeting that the BCCI's cash and bank deposits stood at ₹6,059 crore in 2019 before payments to the state associations.

Even after those payments, the amount rises to ₹20,686 crore in 2024-25, indicating the board's strong financial position.

IPL and ICC revenue

The BCCI recorded a surplus of ₹1,623.08 crore in the last financial year, up from ₹1,167.99 crore in the previous year. This increase is mainly due to the earnings from IPL 2023. Also, revenue received from the ICC is also the reason for this increase.

Overall, the financial position of the board remains strong, which is a positive sign for the future of Indian cricket. With this earning, the board will try to make itself even stronger.

Revenue From Media Rights

However, revenue from media rights of international matches has seen a decrease in 2022-23. It fell from ₹2,524.80 crore to ₹813.14 crore in 2023-24. This decline was mainly due to fewer international matches being played during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Income from Tours and Events

At the same time, revenue from men's senior international tours and other events declined from ₹ 642.78 crore to ₹ 361.22 crore. However, BCCI's investment income has seen an increase. Interest from bank deposits has increased from Rs 533.05 crore to Rs 986.45 crore.
