Kolkata: On the second day of the ongoing Test match between India and South Africa in Kolkata, star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant achieved a major milestone. He broke the record for the most sixes in Test cricket.

Coming in at number five in India's first innings, Pant scored 27 runs off 24 balls, including two sixes and two fours. With this achievement, Pant reached a total of 92 sixes in 83 Test innings, surpassing Virender Sehwag's 91 in 180 innings and Rohit Sharma's 8 in 116 innings.

India's First Innings Performance

India scored 189 runs in the first innings and took a 30-run lead over South Africa. Indian captain Shubman Gill was injured while batting and retired hurt. India's first innings ended with nine wickets in hand.

Overall, KL Rahul top-scored for India with 39 runs, while Washington Sundar made 29. Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja each scored 27 runs. Axar Patel and Dhruv Jurel scored 14 runs each, Yashasvi Jaiswal made 12, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj scored 1 run each, and Jasprit Bumrah remained unbeaten on 1 run.

South Africa's First Innings

South Africa scored 159 runs in their first innings. Simon Harmer took four wickets for them, while Marco Jansen took three, and Keshav Maharaj and Corbin Bosch each took one wicket.
