New Delhi: Pakistan has reportedly agreed to play against India in the T20 World Cup 2026, marking a major development for cricket fans. According to the finalized schedule, the high-profile match is set to take place on February 15 in Colombo.

This decision was reached following a significant meeting held in Lahore, where Pakistan, along with Bangladesh, presented several demands to the International Cricket Council (ICC), some of which have been accepted.

The confirmation ends months of speculation about Pakistan’s participation against India, ensuring that the tournament retains its much-anticipated marquee fixture.

No India-Pakistan Bilateral Series

It is important to note that India and Pakistan will not play any bilateral series. Since 2012, the two countries have not contested a full bilateral series. Pakistan had requested the resumption of such a series, but the ICC rejected the demand, stating that organizing a series between two specific countries does not fall under its jurisdiction.

Pakistan Seeks Higher Revenue Share

In addition to the fixture against India, Pakistan also raised financial concerns during the Lahore meeting. The country requested an increase in its share of ICC revenue. Currently, Pakistan’s portion stands at 5.75 percent, which translates to approximately 34–35 million US dollars.

Reports indicate that the ICC has acknowledged the request and is considering adjustments to Pakistan’s revenue share, signaling potential changes in the financial distribution structure for member nations.

Bangladesh Secures Compensation Despite Exclusion

Bangladesh, which was excluded from the T20 World Cup 2026, also raised concerns during the Lahore meeting. The country requested compensation for being left out of the tournament. As per recent reports, the ICC has agreed to this demand, offering alternative opportunities for Bangladesh to host international cricket events.

As part of the compensation package, Bangladesh may be granted the rights to host the Under-19 World Cup as well as the Women’s Cricket World Cup. This move is seen as a diplomatic and strategic step by the ICC to maintain goodwill among its member nations while balancing competitive fairness in the T20 World Cup.
