Russian envoy warns of consequences after strikes on Syria

Moscow: Cautioning the United States, France and Britain over the military strikes on Syria, the Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov has warned that such actions will not be left without consequences.

Antonov released a statement on Twitter saying, "A pre-designed scenario is being implemented. Again, we are being threatened. We warned that such actions will not be left without consequences."

He further noted that all responsibility for strike rests with Washington, London and Paris while adding that the "US, the possessor of the biggest arsenal of chemical weapon has no moral right to blame other countries."

Antonov further stressed that insulting Russian President Vladimir Putin was 'unacceptable and inadmissible.'

Meanwhile, French Defense Minister Florence Parly said that Russia was warned ahead of the military attacks on Syria.

US President Donald Trump on Friday announced that the U.S., France and the United Kingdom has carried out military strikes in Syria.

The strikes were in retaliation to alleged chemical weapons attack carried out by Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad's regime in a suburb of Damascus on April 7. (ANI)
