UP: 2 history-sheeters arrested following encounter

Two notorious criminals were arrested following an encounter with the police in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh.

Muzaffarnagar: Two notorious criminals were arrested following an encounter with the police in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Wednesday.

The encounter took place on Tuesday night at Unn Road under Thana police station, Shamli Superintendent of Police (SP) Dinesh Kumar told reporters here.

Two history-sheeters -- Irfan and Shehzad -- were arrested, he said, adding that Irfan received bullet injuries in the encounter and a police constable was also injured in the exchange of fire.

Both Irfan and Shehzad were wanted in several cases, the SP said. (PTI)
