Millions of WhatsApp users in Brazil and Europe faced disruptions as the app, web version, and servers crashed on November 4, 2025. Reports show major failures in WhatsApp Web and messaging. Meta has yet to issue an official statement.
Millions Hit as WhatsApp Faces Global Outage
New Delhi: Since the afternoon of November 4, 2025, WhatsApp users in several countries, including India, have been experiencing significant problems. Sending messages, opening WhatsApp Web, and connecting to the server became virtually impossible for millions of people.
This has disrupted users' personal and professional communication. The Meta company has not yet issued an official statement regarding the outage.
According to DownDetector data, 51% of the total complaints are related to WhatsApp Web, where users are unable to load chats or generate QR codes.

Approximately 30% of users are experiencing problems sending messages, while 18% are facing server connectivity loss. The mobile app was affected in only 1% of cases, which were usually resolved by restarting the application. The problem spread from Brazil to India.

A similar problem occurred in February 2025, in which 61% of users were unable to send messages. In July 2025, there was a glitch related to file uploads. The service was restored in approximately 90 minutes. Meta then stated that overloading in the data centers was the main reason for such disruptions.

If WhatsApp is down, users can use Telegram, Signal, or iMessage. SMS is also a useful option for basic messaging.
